Defining Humanitarian Assistance and Methodology

The aid for humanitarian assistance expenditure was so far been given from personal incomes and most of the other aides in UK were done on Mother’s directions to the Donors (who were Mother’s Client benefited by her) to fulfill the needy one’s requirements to alleviate the sufferings. Such acts includes helps to alleviate the poverty – providing Jobs, setup cottage business like ironing, tailoring, veg stall, fruit stall, printing press, Ice cream stall, Juice stall, tea stall, snack stall, fish stalls, providing tools and training for electrical/carpentry/plumbing works, providing loans, educational grants, grants for uniforms and stationeries, providing free food, free clothing, sponsoring for replacing thatched huts for human accommodation due to poverty/after flooding/fire accidents, providing cycles, providing cattles, etc.in South India.

Mostly, no data was collected from the recipients for two reasons:
One is that the situations will not permit or circumstances were not conducive and the other is the Spiritual belief that only when she gives without any expectation in return the blessing is there (as it is said in the Bible – your right hand giving should not be known to your left hand similarly they say in Hinduism, Dhan i.e. donate without expectation, thy will be blessed).

And the other actions were designed to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain and protect human dignity during and in the aftermath of man-made crises and natural disasters, as well as to prevent and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situations. What marks it out from other forms of aid and foreign assistance is that it would be guided by the principles of:

  • Humanity – saving human lives and alleviating suffering wherever it is found.

  • Impartiality – acting solely on the basis of need, without discrimination between or within affected populations irrespective of the race / religion / language / nationality.

  • Neutrality – acting without favoring any side in an armed conflict or other dispute where such action is carried out.

  • Independence – the autonomy of humanitarian objectives from the political, economic, military or other objectives that any actor may hold with regard to areas where humanitarian action is being implemented.

All given without any description or discrimination.
What’s included and who depends on the donor reporting and data availability.
Channels of delivery
Most of our Direct funded assistance was delivered through our NGO called GRK’s TRUST (meaning Gayathri Ravi Kumar’s Trust) registered as an International Charitable Trust in 1991 providing disaster and emergency relief, giving education grants, conducting free marriages, giving grants for jewels/articles for weddings to happen that changes lives, providing food, clothing, etc. directly to the needy ones. Our other channels of delivery was by directly linking the well-offs with the needy ones to alleviate the sufferings of the disadvantaged.
